An exciting 216cm prospect, Pledger burst onto the international scene during last year’s Tall Blacks tour of Europe, scoring the winning basket against Belgium and putting up near double-double numbers almost every game on tour.

Pledger carried that form over to the 2009 FIBA Oceania Championship, averaging 15.5ppg at 62% and 9.5rpg to be the most influential big man in the series.

Australia had no answer for his size close to the basket or his highly effective jumpshot out to 20 feet.

In 2008, Pledger averaged 12.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in his junior year at Belmont Abbey College before commencing his professional career with the New Zealand Breakers in the Australian NBL as a backup to Rick Rickert.
